“When we began our divorce, my spouse and I could only agree on one thing. We wanted to send our kids to college, instead of the lawyers’ kids. So, we decided to work together.”
Do you want to work together with your partner to solve the issues involved in your separation or divorce? One of the most important choices you can make is the choice of how to approach this crucial event. Choosing the right professional to assist with your divorce is a critical if you want to retain control over the process and design the best possible outcomes for your family.
Divorcing couples are better off when they are able to keep their funds within the family. When the parties can reach their own agreement (using mediation, Collaborative Law or other non-adversarial methods) it often results in significant cost savings — and better results for all involved — compared to cases that must be fought out in court. I have designed my rates to be affordable and I am willing to discuss reduced rates to meet your family’s needs.
- Initial Consultation:No Charge (up to 30 minutes)
- Attorney Work: $220 per hour
- Mediation: $195 per hour
After both spouses have approved a legal agreement containing the terms of their dissolution, I prepare and file all remaining court documents for a flat fee of $750. No court appearance is required.
Having been there myself, I understand the complex web of emotions, logistics and finances that must be considered when a family reaches the decision to divorce. I will help you negotiate a mutually fair settlement regarding your children, finances, and other matters that may seem impossible today. During our free consultation, we will discuss the options that best fit your situation. This may include:
Legal Advice for Representing Yourself
Some people are able to work confidently with their spouse or partner and consult me only for basic legal advice or direction about how best to move forward.
Kitchen Table Mediation
Other clients of mine are working one-on-one with their partners but want more a more detailed road map of how to work through their issues. I can incorporate the final agreements into the proper legal paperwork to complete the dissolution.
Mediation
Many couples find it impossible to resolve all their issues by themselves, given the tremendous stress that arises from the breakup of a family. As a mediator, I work as a neutral facilitator to assist both parties in the difficult conversations and negotiation necessary to reach the best possible agreements for all family members.
Collaborative Family Law
One-on-one mediation is sometimes not the best option for couples to reach a mutually beneficial resolution. Collaborative Law offers more structured support and assistance than available in mediation. You and your partner agree in writing to resolve your issues outside of court. We use a settlement team of specially trained professionals to help the parties resolve the emotional, financial, and parenting issues surrounding the end of your marriage. With my help, you advocate for your values, the highest and best goals for all family members.
Preparation of Legal Paperwork
Whichever option you choose, when you are ready to begin the dissolution process, I can prepare and process your legal paperwork at reasonable rates. If you wish to handle that yourself, I can review your documents and ensure that you comply with all legal requirements and court rules.

“In these unsettled times, the benefit of resolving a family conflict through [negotiated agreements] is all the greater. The emotional and economic costs of protracting or litigating family disputes seem misplaced when these resources are already stretched thin from external events we can’t control, and there is more than enough conflict in the world.” ~H. Jay Folberg, Former President, Academy of Family Mediators
