Most divorcing couples would like to avoid litigation by reaching a full agreement on all relevant issues, either on their own or by using mediation or the Collaborative Law process. Then, legal papers must be still submitted to the court to approve the settlement and officially end the marriage.
Once a couple agrees on the details to be included in the legal documents, I am available to prepare and process the dissolution paperwork through the court system for a flat fee of $750. The divorce can usually be finalized in 30 days or less, without having to appear before a judge.
A clarification: a lawyer may not represent both spouses in a dissolution case. However, under Oregon law, an attorney may act as a neutral mediator for a divorcing couple, and assist them by drafting and filing their legal paperwork in court.
